![]() ![]() In perhaps the most straightforward expression of our collective technophobia, SimpliSafe’s ad featured the line “I’m just saying, in five years robots will be able to do your job,” while a creepy device eavesdrops on the man’s wife – this from a spot trying to sell us a virtual home security system. ![]() But that was just the beginning of a series of commercials by different brands delivering dark humor about machines failing to be well, human.Īmazon Alexa “Not Everything Makes The Cut”įrom Intuit TurboTax’s Pinocchio-esque “RoboChild” being told he will never be a real CPA to the depressed voice assistant and robots of Pringles and Michelob Ultra, the unease of humanity’s relationship with AI in 2019 took center stage throughout the game. One of the biggest themes of the night was obvious by the end of the first quarter as spot after spot pitted humans against artificial intelligence (AI) for comic effect.Īmazon set the tone early (and often) with a star-studded send-up of Alexa-enabled device “misses” showing the lighter side of smart technology running amok-Harrison Ford’s dog ordering truckloads of food, and Alexa knocking out worldwide power grids (funny, eh?). Still, if you look close enough you can glean a lot about who we like to think we are. If culture holds up a mirror to the society that creates it, the commercials produced for the annual big game are the heavily filtered equivalent of our collective national Instagram feed a projection of how we want to see ourselves as much as any reflection of reality. If you want to know more about the cooking instructions, nutritional content, or ingredients for this Devour frozen pizza, check out our package scans below.Every year America posts a bunch of selfies in the form of Super Bowl ads. This is once-in-a-while food for people who want to indulge it certainly shouldn’t be treated as an everyday meal. While we love Devour’s food, we have to warn you against eating it regularly. You can see why we were puzzling over the UFC’s endorsement of this pizza, right?ĭevour’s “The Carnivore” pizza is big on flavor, but it’s also big on calories. If you eat a half of this pizza, you’ll end up consuming 950 calories and 2,100 mg of sodium. First off, how do you even cut this into fifths? Secondly, anyone who’s being honest with themselves knows that a half pizza is a more realistic serving size if you’re considering this a meal and not just a light snack. Now, Devour somehow thinks a good serving size for this pizza is 1/5 of a pizza. It’s not because we want to bum you out (though this information will certainly darken your day a bit), but because we think you should eat responsibly when you’re consuming frozen food. So, we mentioned calories earlier in this review, and now we’re going to do it. The crust is a little crisp around the edges and soft everywhere else, and it serves as a good bed upon which the rest of the ingredients sit. It’s a meaty mix that has a bit of kick to it, and it’s served on a crust that we find to be pretty tasty. We also think this could use a little more cheese.īut what’s here is lovely. This is definitely the sort of pizza that would benefit from a BBQ sauce. This flavor is super subtle, to the point where we’re not sure if we were imagining it or not, but it made us wonder why Devour didn’t use a BBQ sauce instead of a red sauce. (To be fair, pepperoni-lovers might be more at home with Devour’s Three Way Pepp Pizza.)Īnother strange thing about this pizza is that the sauce has an almost-BBQ-like flavor to it. Obviously, Team Sausage was very enthusiastic about the amount of sausage here, while Team Pepp felt like they got the short end of the stick. We’re divided on this because some Freezer Meal Frenzy staffers prefer sausage to pepperoni, while others prefer pepperoni to sausage. Because of that, the meat selection seems skewed heavily in favor of the sausage. ![]() Now, there’s pepperoni here, but it’s in the diced cube form and not the classic round slices. Most importantly, they left off the traditional slices of pepperoni. However, Devour made some choices here that are a little confusing. ![]()
